Photo Friday: Pioneertown, California

Photography, Southern California

Pioneertown, California, is an unincorporated community in the Morongo Basin region of southern California. It is found by taking the Pioneertown Road cutoff from Route 62 in Yucca Valley. The winding, 4-mile (6.4 km) drive northwest to Pioneertown has been designated a California Scenic Drive.

The town started as a live-in Old West motion-picture set, built in the 1940s. The set was designed to provide a place for actors to live while using their homes in the movies. A number of Westerns and early television shows were filmed here, including The Cisco Kid. A list of films and TV shows filmed here can be found at: http://www.imdb.com/search/title?locations=Pioneertown%2C+California%2C+USA&ref_=ttloc_loc_8

My First Cover

Photography

I only started submitting my model photography for publication in July and have been very fortunate to have been selected to appear in a number of publications and can now announce my first cover: GrayModeImages Pinup/Glam Vol. 1. Along with the cover, my photos of five models are included: cover girl Rona Guevara, Heather Nicole, Venus Mantrap, Bettie La Rose, and Miss Kitty Harlow. I’ve included a sneak peak below, though each model received 3 to 6 photos in the issue.

Copies of the magazine, both print and digital, are available here: http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/842736

Hello Kitty Con 2014

Photography, Southern California

Hello Kitty’s 40th Anniversary was celebrated at the first ever official Hello Kitty Convention, held October 30 to November 2. Hello Kitty Con 2014 was a global gathering of fans to celebrate all things Hello Kitty. The convention took place at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Downtown LA’s Little Tokyo.

While my wife and our friend were there to experience everything Hello Kitty, I came as an interested photographer determined to document the experience itself: The food trucks, gift bags, and cross-promotions along with the fervent fans and never-ending supply of merchandise, old and new.
