Nizwa’s Souk includes fruit and vegetable, along with meat and fish markets. Unfortunately, due to a breakdown along the road from Muscat to Nizwa, by the time we arrive, these markets have shut down for their afternoon break (who knew they took siestas in Oman?). We are still able to explore the antique and silver markets a bit, which are closest to Nizwa Fort and consequently don’t seem to be in as big of a hurry to close.
I’m finding that I enjoy photographing souks in black and white. This allows me to focus on texture and composition rather than being distracted by color. Then again, I’m usually open to any excuse to photograph in black and white.
