The Cameron Highlands is a cool mountain retreat about 125 miles (200 kilometers) north of Kuala Lumpur. Sitting at elevations between 3,600 to 5,250 feet (1,100 and 1,600 meters), the region is known for its mild climate, mist-covered hills, and lush greenery. The area was first developed in the 1920s during British colonial rule, when surveyor William Cameron mapped the highlands. The British established tea plantations, hill stations, and Tudor-style houses. While visiting one of these tea plantations, the heavens opened up and we ended up seeking shelter in the covered Cactus Valley botanical garden before making our way to our lodging for the night. All photos created with the Nikon Z6 and either the 14-30mm f/4 or 24-70mm f/4 lens. Processed using Photoshop CC and Nik Collection’s Color or Silver Efex Pro.
