Kek Lok Si Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia and one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Southeast Asia. Construction began in the 1890s under the guidance of a Chinese monk named Beow Lean and was funded largely by the local Chinese community. The temple complex, spread across a hillside, reflects a blend of Mahayana and Theravada Buddhist traditions, as well as Chinese cultural influences. Beyond its religious importance, Kek Lok Si has become a cultural icon of Penang. All photos created with the Nikon Z6 and either the 14-30mm f/4 or 24-70mm f/4 lens. Processed using Photoshop CC and Nik Collection’s Color or Silver Efex Pro.
