Kampong Ayer, often called the “Venice of the East,” is a historic water village located in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei. Built on stilts along the Brunei River, it is home to thousands of residents and consists of a network of wooden walkways, footbridges, and boat taxis connecting over 40 small villages. Kampong Ayer has been inhabited for more than a thousand years and once served as the center of Bruneian civilization, symbolizing the country’s rich cultural heritage and maritime traditions. All photos created with the Nikon Z6 and either the 14-30mm f/4 or 24-70mm f/4 lens. Processed using Photoshop CC and Nik Collection’s Color Efex Pro.
