Banaue is home to the the Banaue Rice Terraces, 2,000-year-old terraces that were carved into the mountains of Ifugao by ancestors of the indigenous people. The Rice Terraces are commonly referred to by Filipinos as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” It is commonly thought that the terraces were built with minimal equipment and largely by hand. It is possible to hire a trike to take you to the top of the terraces, where its a gentle walk down, offering views of more than just terraces.
