Near Sheki is the village of Kish, where one can find a renovated Albanian church. Caucasian Albania was the Christian nation that once covered most of northern Azerbaijan. The courtyard to the church has a very low door—I’m noticing a trend here. After exploring the village, there is time for a very good coffee in a cafe, where I find myself inspired by the yellow and pink sugar cubes.
