Belgium

Belgium was a founding member of the European Union and houses its headquarters, along with many other international organizations, such as NATO. While my wife has been here before, I never have and would really like to see Bruges. We decide to stay in Brussels and plan a day-trip out to Ghent and Bruges.

Eurostar is the best way to get from London to Brussels. I have always found trains more comfortable than planes or buses for the mere fact that one has the option to walk about, even if one does not need to. And you get to see the view.

BRUGES
A canal-based city in the shape of an egg that maintains most of its medieval architecture.

BRUSSELS
Brussels has grown from a 10th-century fortress town founded by a descendant of Charlemagne to a modern, sizeable city.

GHENT
Located in the Flemish region of Belgium and in the Middle Ages was one of the largest and richest cities in northern Europe
