Part of Paraguay’s Golden Circuit, Areguá is widely regarded as the ceramic capital of Paraguay. The town’s artistic identity is so closely tied to pottery that it was designated a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for Crafts and Folk Art. More than 450 pottery workshops operate in and around the city, making ceramics the dominant traditional craft of the region.
