Peru – Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes

To reach Machu Picchu, it’s an early morning train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of the Incan citadel. There are two options: Peru Rail (blue) and Inca Rail (green). They both use the same tracks and take the same time (around ninety minutes). We’re on Peru Rail and the ride is smooth. Once in Aguas Calientes, we make our way to the long queue for the twenty-minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu. While waiting, some sort of procession begins, allowing for a distraction from the lengthy waiting time. All photos created using the Nikon Z8 with the Nikkor 14-30mm f/4 or 24-200mm f/4 lens. Processed using Photoshop CC and Nik Collection’s Color or Silver Efex Pro.
