One of the most striking things about Aguas Calientes is its setting. The town is squeezed into a narrow valley where the Aguas Calientes and Alcamayo streams meet the Urubamba River. Forested mountains rise almost immediately from the town, giving it a lush, enclosed feeling. We stayed the night and have an afternoon train to Cusco, so we spent the morning exploring the area.
