Peru – Sacsayhuamán (2 of 2)

It is often called an Inca fortress, particularly because of its massive defensive-looking walls and its role during the Spanish conquest. However, its function appears to have been considerably broader. The complex included ceremonial spaces, roads, water systems, terraces, storage areas, and other structures. The Peruvian tourism authority notes that describing it simply as a fortress can obscure its wider religious, administrative, and symbolic significance. All photos created using the Nikon Z8 with the Nikkor 14-30mm f/4 or 24-200mm f/4 lens. Processed using Photoshop CC and Nik Collection’s Color or Silver Efex Pro.
