Located along the northeastern coast of Malta just north of Valletta, St. Julian’s began as a small fishing village but has transformed into a modern resort destination filled with hotels, restaurants, cafés, shopping areas, casinos, and apartment towers. Despite its modern appearance, St. Julian’s still retains traces of its older maritime character, particularly around Spinola Bay. Traditional Maltese fishing boats called luzzus can still be seen floating in the harbor, creating a striking contrast with the luxury developments nearby. Several areas within St. Julian’s are especially picturesque. Spinola Bay is known for its waterfront restaurants and colorful boats, while Balluta Bay features elegant Art Nouveau architecture and the neo-gothic Carmelite church overlooking the sea.
