Netherlands (2012) – Marken (1 of 2)

Marken is a charming historic village in the province of North Holland, famous for its traditional green wooden houses, picturesque harbor, maritime heritage, and distinctive Dutch character. Once an island in the former Zuiderzee, Marken is now connected to the mainland by a causeway, making it an easy destination for a day trip from Amsterdam. I’ve joined a tour visiting three sites today, this being the first. It’s a rainy day but I do the best with the dim light at times and am thankful when the sun occasionally pops out.
