Netherlands (2012) – Volendam (1 of 2)

Volendam is a picturesque harbor town known for its old fishing boats and the traditional clothing still worn by some residents. The town itself has two distinct areas: the bustling lane along the dock, filled with shops, tourists, and statues, and a quiet, cat-filled village only a few steps away. I spend most of my time here. As I know my wife would be trying to pet every cat if she were with me, I do my best to include them in a few photos. I have yet to learn that the best cat (and dog) photos come when you lower yourself to their level, but I do the best I can. It is also here that I start to become a little obsessed with bicycles, which will become a recurring motif for the images created during this trip.
