Paraguay – Jesús de Tavarangue Ruins (1 of 2)

The Ruins of Jesús de Tavarangue are one of Paraguay’s most important historical and archaeological sites. Located in the department of Itapúa Department, the mission was founded by Jesuit missionaries and Guaraní converts as part of a network of reductions established throughout the Río de la Plata region during the 17th and 18th centuries. One of the site’s most distinctive features is its blend of architectural influences, which combines European Christian styles with Indigenous Guaraní traditions and includes rare Mudéjar (Christian-Arab) design elements, particularly in its decorative arches. We’re here just after sunrise, giving the exterior a warming glow and leaving the place to ourselves. All photos created using the Nikon Z8 with either the Nikkor 14-30mm f/4 or 24-200mm f/4-6.3 lens. Processed using Photoshop CC and either Nik Collection’s Color or Silver Efex Pro.
