Wied iż-Żurrieq is a small fishing hamlet on the southern coast of Malta, best known as the gateway to the famous Blue Grotto sea caves. Surrounded by steep limestone cliffs and clear Mediterranean waters, the area is one of Malta’s most scenic coastal locations and has long been associated with fishing, boating, and maritime traditions. The area retains a quieter and more traditional atmosphere compared to Malta’s larger resort towns, with small waterfront restaurants and cafés overlooking the harbor. While I don’t visit the Blue Grotto on this visit, I do become a little obsessed with all the blue doors.
